Notre Dame’s 2019 class picked up its first wideout today when Cam Hart announced for the Irish. The 6’3″, 190-pound Good Counsel (MD) prospect took an unofficial visit to South Bend in early June. The Irish reportedly grabbed a big lead at that point and never looked back.

Highlights

What I like about Hart’s highlights is that he does a little bit of everything. I don’t think he has any elite traits, but he has a lot of very good ones. He shows strong hands and competes hard for the ball in the air; he’s not going to take the top off but he can move vertically well enough; he has enough moves to gain a few yards after the catch; and he’s a willing and able blocker (as evidenced by his Georgia Tech offer). His route running can be imprecise, and he could stand to add 10-20 pounds, but there’s a lot to like about his game as is.

Impact

With how muddled Notre Dame’s receiver picture is at the moment, it’s hard to project how Cam Hart will fit into it a year from now. A lot will depend on how physically ready he is, but even if he comes in at a chiseled 220 I think he’ll need some technical work. I do think he shows the potential to be part of the rotation down the road, but it’s really hard to predict how it’ll all shake out.

Welcome to the Irish family, Cam!
