In a very welcome development, blue-chip WR Deion Colzie recommitted to Notre Dame today. He committed almost a year ago (which made us very happy) and decommitted about six months ago (which made us sad, no link but trust me), throwing his recruitment completely back open when he did. After his decommitment he picked up offers from Auburn, Florida State, Michigan, Oregon, and Penn State; he already held offers from Alabama, Florida, and Georgia, among others.

His ranking has dropped a bit, fueled mostly by concern over how smoothly he can transition and accelerate on the field; when he committed he was #51 overall in the 247 Composite and he’s now #84. He might be slightly over-ranked still, and it’s true the Georgia and Alabama weren’t really chasing him all that hard by the end. But Irish fans should definitely be very glass half full on this news, as is their wont. Colzie is a big kid with exceptional testing numbers for his size – he stands 6’4″ and boasts an electronic 4.56 40, a 4.25 shuttle, and 36″ vertical, all recorded at the Atlanta Opening regional as a sophomore, and also was the state runner-up in the high jump as a sophomore. He doesn’t have explosive speed or make-you-miss moves, but whatever man, he’s an athlete and a really good one.
Think of him as an upper middle-class man’s Miles Boykin. Give me kids like that all day.
His mother struggles with PTSD from her time in the military, and being far away from her was reportedly a major factor in his decision to decommit back in March. Mama Colzie, however, has never been shy about her preference for Notre Dame – like, not even the teeniest tiniest bit shy – and in the end it looks like Colzie found peace with the distance and made mama happy again.

When you lose a big commit but he comes back.
Should have Jerome Bettis (or so many others!) give Colzie a call and tell him how momma always knows best!
Jayden Thomas is making his announcement on Friday and supposedly that’s looking good for Notre Dame too.
That’s a heck of a week for two 4**** WR’s. Exactly what they need right now.
Let’s give it up for the state of Georgia. Great job, guys.
And a hearty round of boos for the state of Florida, which never seems to stop sticking it to ND.
Great news — as this year is showing, it is important to have a continued pipeline of quality receivers!
Any news on the remaining targets and expected commits for this class? We’ll find about about Jayden Thomas soon, but any news about others (Donte, Titus, Ceyair, Theran)? Also, any guesses about whether Abiara sticks with ND?
Colzie is a DUDE. He has a mean stiff arm.
