Notre Dame added its 10th member of the 2024 recruiting class on Saturday prior to the Blue-Gold Game as Hoschton, Georgia defensive end Cole Mullins committed to the Irish. Mullins attends Mill Creek High School outside Atlanta and is coming off a AAAAAAA state championship playing alongside 5-star (and MaxPreps National Player of the Year) Alabama freshman safety Caleb Downs and 4-star Clemson linebacker Jamal Anderson. He also shares the field with classmate KingJoseph Edwards who is a pass rusher/tight end and nearly a top 100 recruit for 2024, as well.

Highlights
Mullins is definitely a big and rangy athlete-type of defender. For Mill Creek he plays a lot of linebacker and as a pass rusher while flashing a nice combination of size and speed mixed with power. At Notre Dame, they are targeting him to play the weak-side Vyper position to get after the quarterback.
Mullins can pack a punch when making a tackle. It’ll be interesting to see how productive he will be in his senior year while taking on a bigger role but also not having a couple of those elite stars on the same team. There are parts to his game that are really raw but he also flashes a ton of potential. While playing at a big school in Georgia, he should increase his profile and move up the recruiting rankings soon.
Impact
Notre Dame is currently in the process of converting a pair of former linebackers to the Vyper edge role and will look to do the same for Mullins beginning in 2024. Of course, everyone would love an elite blue-chip recruit at this position. However, Notre Dame really didn’t hit this position very hard in 2023 and Mullins is the type of high ceiling athlete from a talent-rich part of the country that makes sense to add to the program.
Welcome to the Irish family, Cole!
