Notre Dame football added another piece to its 2024 recruiting class Friday afternoon when 4-star tight end Jack Larsen verbally committed to the Fighting Irish. The 6’3″/220-pounder out of Charlotte, North Carolina is the 4th player to join Notre Dame’s group of 2024 commits, a group which has now passed Florida State for the #1 spot in the country. For those of you keeping track at home, that puts the Irish at the #1 spot in the 247 Composite Class Rankings for both 2023 and 2024. Which happens to be pretty good.

Highlights

Jack’s film is a fun one to watch. He starts things off with an absolute banger of a first clip wherein he makes a diving one-handed grab in the endzone (which apparently was called incomplete but I think he got a foot down?). He has an outstanding catch radius, making difficult catches look routine. He excels at controlling his body to adjust to throws, which makes him incredibly difficult to defend.

Impact

Jack has a lot of physical development to do before he’ll be ready for the college level, but the good news is he’s just a 2024 kid right now. We’re at least a year and a half away from him arriving on campus, which gives him plenty of time. Right now he’s more of a receiving threat only, though he shows a willingness to develop his blocking as well. He’d work great in an H-back role, where he can line up at different spots to create mismatches. If you’re interested in a potential-based projection, read Jamie Uyeyama’s Film Don’t Lie on him. Jamie views Jack’s potential as an Irv Smith Jr/Sr type of player. That’s something I think we’d all be happy with.
