Just a few weeks after losing a member of his 2024 wide receiver group, Chansi Stuckey has gone out and landed a replacement piece. In the wake of Isiah Canion’s flip to Georgia Tech, the Notre Dame staff was tasked with finding new potential targets at receiver. Logan Saldate was quickly identified as a a guy that needed serious consideration and both Stuckey and Freeman have been quietly pursuing him for the last couple of weeks. Today, the 5’11″/185-pounder out of California backed off his commitment to the Oregon State Beavers and verbally committed to the Fighting Irish.

Highlights
This is a kid with legitimate speed and athleticism proven by track numbers — a 10.8-second 100m and a 24’5″ long jump this past spring. Aside from a nice athletic profile, you can tell based on his film that he has strong hands and excellent body control when high-pointing the football. The back-to-back catches starting around the 32-second mark are highlights at any level. His shiftiness in the screen game shows he can be a weapon out in space as well.

Impact
Over the last two recruiting cycles, Chansi Stuckey has been working to rebuild a receiver room that was left in a pretty poor spot by his predecessor. With a four-man haul in 2023 followed up by three commits in 2024, Notre Dame is on its way towards replenishing that position group with both numbers and talent. As of right now it sounds as if the Irish will be happy with a three-man group in the 2024 cycle, but that may change as we come into the fall and new faces pop up on the radar with senior film.
Next year Logan will be walking into a receiver room that is talented but still pretty young. I’ll be interested in seeing how he stacks up to the rest of the young talent in the room.
Welcome to the Irish family, Logan!
It seems like they went from a low-floor/high-ceiling guy (Canion) to a high-floor/low-ceiling guy. Not bad as a third receiver
That’s not my sense at all. My sense is they went after another guy with speed/athleticism and so a lot of upside – even if his upside is maybe not quite as high as Canion’s is.
Congratulations and welcome to Note Dame, Logan! We look forward to getting know you better and respect what you can bring to the University and the football program.
This staff never seems to quit recruiting.
Notre Dame flips 2024 WR Logan Saldate from Oregon State
Kingston Lopa, S, committed to Oregon, is taking a visit to Washington after the commitment. Just saying…
