There’s plenty of room in the late afternoon to spend time with your loved ones. For those of you who like early kickoffs remember Notre Dame versus Navy will begin at 11:30 AM ET. For those of you out west grab some coffee Saturday morning and then have fun during the entire afternoon.
This is a really, really light offering for the sport until late at night when we have a couple quality ranked matchups.
Enemy Watch
Air Force (+1.5) at Army
Texas (-3.5) at Texas Tech
Michigan State (-9.5) at Illinois
Pitt (+3) at Miami
Syracuse (+27) at #2 Clemson
#19 Virginia Tech (-11.5) at Duke
Oregon State (+14.5) at Stanford
#22 Florida State (-5.5) at NC State
Oregon (+16.5) at USC
Nevada (+14.5) at New Mexico
Air Force can wrap up the CiC Trophy this weekend and take possession of it for the 2nd time in 3 years. Or, this resurgent Army team can defeat the Falcons to set up a huge season-ending game with Navy.
Is Texas for sure firing Strong? They can still run the table and finish 9-4 all together. I’m not saying it’s going to happen but it’s still out there and it’s not like the Big 12 is a hot bowl of awesome.
Michigan State has lost 6 straight and if they can’t beat Illinois there might only be one more win on the schedule–next week against Rutgers.
What’s going on with Pat Narduzzi these days? Pitt has given up an average of 36 points per game since week two. On the flip side, watching Miami lose 5 games in a row would be entertaining.
Florida State and NC State have given us some fun games so that could be worth a watch.
Oregon finally got on track last week with a win over Arizona State to snap a 5-game skid. They’re giving up 42.3 points per game, though! Yup, that’s worst among all Power 5 teams. USC has to be licking its chops.
Raised Eyebrow Game
#8 Wisconsin (-7) at Northwestern
The Badgers have scored 21 combined points in back-to-back losses against Northwestern which is certainly something noteworthy. The Wildcats offense has been playing pretty well lately which adds intrigue.
Double Raised Eyebrow Game
#18 Oklahoma State (+2.5) at Kansas State
Three teams are within a game of Oklahoma who is still unbeaten in the Big 12. We still have some figuring out to do in this league. Of course, we know Manhattan is a place where dreams can die quickly. Vegas know this, too.
National Spotlight
UCLA (+12) at #15 Colorado
#11 Florida (-5.5) at Arkansas
Iowa (+7.5) at #12 Penn State
#1 Alabama (-7.5) at #11 LSU
#10 Nebraska (+17.5) at #6 Ohio State
We need to see Colorado in the Pac-12 Title Game. That might come down to the regular season finale against Utah. What we also really need is to see UCLA suffer their 6th loss.
I added Penn State because they’re still alive in the Big Ten East with only 1 loss. I wouldn’t think a visit from the Hawkeyes is a total gimme, right?
LSU has lost 4 straight to Alabama while never scoring more than 17 points in any of those defeats. Danny Etling at quarterback might offer some hope? He’s completing 8% more of his passes with almost 2 full yards per attempt. With Leonard Fournette behind him anything is possible.
Vegas is disrespecting Nebraska so hard! According to F/+ this is a matchup between the #4 team and the #21 team which usually doesn’t require such a large spread. Go ahead and take the Cornhuskers!
New Mexico can become bowl-eligible for the second straight season if they beat Nevada. Bob Davie – Doing Good Things(TM)
Let’s bring him home.
I can’t believe how dirty I feel for wishing we had him back as a D coordinator.
Why do you say you hope CO wins and UCLA loses?
That’s easy because Colorado has sucked for so long and it’s fun to see them winning and UCLA is such an unlikabke program. I thought everyone was on board with this?
That works for me, Eric.
What a boring CFB weekend though.
