We could lay it on thick with a bunch of corporate speak with this uniform. Something about the shade of blue corresponding to a piece of history found on campus. Something about the fabric being revolutionary. Remember with the 2014 Shamrock Series jersey they put the tiled mosaic on the Main Building floor up on the shoulders? As much as I love uniforms there’s a certain aspect to describing concepts that is so silly sometimes.

Today’s concept is a straight copy of the Chicago Bears road uniform outfitted for Notre Dame.

Let’s say the Irish play at Soldier Field at some point in the future and Northwestern is the home team, well how about Notre Dame wears these uniforms? I know you’re thinking why wouldn’t Notre Dame be the home team against Northwestern (valid point) and wear the home blue?

It’s simply because the Bears’ blue-white-blue-white road color scheme is among my favorite in the NFL and I wanted to see it involved in this series. We’ll be revisiting this scheme down the road again, as well.

This concept isn’t a 100% match with the Bears. Aside from the colors of course the Notre Dame monogram replaces the Bears iconic “C” logo. Additionally, we didn’t replicate Chicago’s famous rounded numbers instead sticking with Notre Dame’s “Leahy” script.

For over 30 years the Bears have worn “GSH” in honor George Halas on their left arm sleeve. We’ve opted to replace that with smaller monograms on both sleeves that continue the look and feel of the Bears uniform.

Overall, this uniform has a very early 80’s feel which makes sense because Notre Dame wore a jersey from ’81-83 that is very similar. Plus, the Bears started wearing the blue pants with their road white jersey in 1983, too.
