The next in our line of Notre Dame uniform concepts is the last of our Black for Black’s Sake collection. We may revisit black at some point in 2018 but after today we’ll be turning our attention to other color schemes and ideas.
This concept was created with the thought in mind of a heavily black dominated uniform that used blue and gold paired together in certain areas. The sleeves were a no-brainer decision to set them against a white background to allow the colors to pop.
We tried a similar situation with the numbers on the jersey, except adding horizontals black stripes for flavor.
At that point we figured the seams on the jersey front do resemble a shield. Hence, transferring a shield logo to the helmet, pants, and socks.
Ow. My eyes.
Also, I’d like a Clearwall ruling on those numbers. White on mostly white seems like it would be problematic, even with the outlines.
I know I’m dying to hear that ruling from clearwall.
Wed have to see it IRL, but my first thought is illegal. I think only one team on the field should be wearing black and white ..not a fan of these at all
I assume our collective first thought was “Illegal”
Hard, hard pass.
Oh no, Eric.
On the bright side I could probably wear those socks to work as sneaky dress sock replacements.
I actually like the shield design as a stand alone. Would look nice in the stadium concourse or Gug as a banner.
Yeah it just seems slapped on as an afterthought as a helmet logo
There’s nothing to see here, keep moving…
No.

Just… no.
Go home, you’re drunk.
“Share this story if you’ve enjoyed it!” – How do we do the opposite of this?
What are these, prison uniforms? Make our next Shamrock Series game be against Miami and call it Convicts vs. Convicts!
Yup, embrace it!
These are what the Spaniards call El terrible
Spaniard, heh heh.

I think if we used this jersey, Ricci would take his money back.

So, I was at a wedding during the NC State game and I’m dying for an advanced stats review… any chance we’ll get one?
Mike is working on it, he’s just a bit bogged down by the stuff he actually gets paid to do. It’ll be here soon.
I think this is the most united the commentariat has ever been in their opinions of anything.
I disagree
No, because Michigan still sucks.
Yeah, but some people actually want them to win games sometimes.
Those people aren’t people.
I see it as, I want them to help ND’s SOS
These are insane. I’m all in.
Join me hand in hand!
These are my least favorite too. But I won’t deny any concepts from seeing the light of day.
By the way, are film room posts a thing of the past? I always loved those.
Funny you should ask – we have another Film Room Live Post coming out tomorrow morning. Good timing!
These would make great soccer kits for a team that actually had black as a primary color.
But no thanks for ND or for football.
The New Zealand All Blacks…
Shout out to ND as one of the three top OL producing schools for the NFL! And hopefully McGlinchey and Nelson will do well there too.

I really hope they show this to NP-F. Should be OL recruiting gold.
These are the Arby’s of uniforms.
Wow this jersey is like Mike McGlinchey going #1 in the draft. Oh, what’s that?

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Lousy with a capital “L”.
I hate all these “concepts”. I love the classic blue and gold with plain gold helmets. The rest are all dreck.
Oh, don’t be so boring.
ND classic is NEVER boring 😀
Is this the correct place to discuss this article? Because there’s a lot to unpack here.
https://www.indystar.com/story/sports/college/notre-dame/2017/11/02/year-later-how-notre-dame-alums-feel-after-blasting-brian-kelly-jack-swarbrick-ads/822959001/
I guess taking credit is easier than apologizing.
Well to be honest that’s pretty much true in all walks of life. At least it is for simpletons.
The funniest part to me is that they’ve taken a NDN certified trope and used it as a shield to cover themselves now. Thousands of posts have mocked fans who dare cheer for the team, now this article is one vanilla “for the LADS” promo. They’ve always been hypocritical above all else.
Beyond that, things are pretty laughable. Not a single key decision maker at ND takes their message board seriously and it’s been humorous to watch them try and take credit for the offseason changes.
An off-season, mind you, in which their primary goal of firing Kelly and Swarbrick failed and they spent months lambasting the hirings and changes on campus in addition to their usual tired narratives about money and not caring about winning.
But now that we’re winning they want to take credit. Because I guess they were the lone voices among all ND fans who thought a better run game and improved defense would win football games. Truly inspired thinking that escaped so many of us.
They are the worst.
TOS…where ND football under Kelly, Weis, Willingham, Davie (insert anyone other than Holtz), rationality and civility go to die.
TOOS…where author comments outnumber everyone else.
Did I get that right?
“Not a single key decision maker at ND takes their message board seriously and it’s been humorous to watch them try and take credit for the offseason changes.”
Oh sure, Eric, buy what the admin is selling you. Of course key decision makers SAY they don’t listen, but we all know what really happens. Wake up, sheeple.
Such a strange section of the internet.
