Our last article for the season, and our favorite to write, a tribute to our seniors!

The year may not have ended how we would have liked, but we are proud of our players and excited to see them embark on their futures.

This year was an impressive bunch that included an 100% GSR and three masters degrees.  Well done!

Starting with our Captians:

Anthony Marini

Anthony was a key reserve on the attack, but he will be most known for his leadership as a captain.  We enjoyed the stories emerging from the team of his stress on the importance of getting the job done using the example of what it was like to watch the seniors’ careers abruptly end in the tournament last year.  Anthony graduates with a degree in finance and is taking a positions with private equity firm Riverside.  Last summer he interned with investment banking arm of Jeffries.

Nick Koshansky

This captain and defensive midfielder is a product of St. Anthony’s HS on Long Island (Go Friars!)  Nick overcame a serious knee injury suffered last year to come back and be a very productive member of the defense this year.  Another injury cut his season short at the very end, but we were glad to watch his leadership even during times when he was hurt and unable to play. He graduates with a degree in accounting and will have a position with KPMG where he also interned last summer.

Shane Doss

The starting goalie and All-ACC and 3rd team All-American in 2016 was the backbone of the Irish defense.  He led from the crease for a very long time, since midway in his freshman year and ultimately recorded nearly 500 saves for the Irish.  Notre Dame will sorely miss all that experience.  Shane graduates with a degree in marketing, and we are pleased to read his lacrosse life is not complete as he will take a position with BlueStar lacrosse.  During the season we were also pleased to see Doss dip his toes into lacrosse twitter to defend teammate John Sexton as the top LSM of 2017.

Sergio Perkovic

Let’s first enjoy how he came on the scene:

We may never tire of watching slow-mos of goalies reacting well after the ball is in the net.

The story of the Irish’s first 100-goal midfielder and #2 MLL draft pick  (Boston Cannons) goes well beyond his success on the field. 3-time ACC All-Academic Team, Senior CLASS award finalist, ACC Post-Graduate Scholarship Recipient, and graduating cum laude.  All this in addition to being a 3-time All-American and All-ACC.  We understand Sergio has a career lined up with Credit Suisse where he had recently interned, and on the weekends he will be playing alongside former Irish teammate Matt Landis in the MLL.

Garrett Epple

First, we are very pleased that Garrett was selected in the 2nd round of the MLL draft to play for our neighborhood Atlanta Blaze. We’re excited to get to see him play some more.  ND-Atl 2.0 is also hopeful Epple will make the youth lacrosse rounds with his Blaze teammates.  This All-American left his mark as one of the more physically imposing defensemen we’ve seen at ND in some time.  He will also have bragging rights over newly-crowned national champions Maryland as the guy who shut down their superstar Matt Rambo not only once, but twice.

The Maryland native graduates with a degree in IT management to go along with his 57 career caused turnovers.  We’ll also remember this assist:

P.J. Finley

P.J. graduated with a degree in accounting, and to our understanding has taken a position with Sandler O’Neill.  In the modern version of lacrosse, Finley had one of the toughest assignments as the team’s face-off specialist, going mano-y-mano with the best in the country at the dot.  Injuries hampered him a bit this last year, but the Irish will sorely miss his ability to score on the break after winning a draw.

We’ll also fondly remember his ESPN Sports Center Top-10 play, scoring off the faceoff against then #1 Syracuse to send the game into OT, where the Irish would eventually knock off the top-ranked team.

Bobby Gray

Our midfielder received his MBA in corporate finance.  We’re glad this Californian stuck around for a graduate year so we could witness this amazing goal!

We’re hopeful he won’t be upset with us for not focusing more on his career and academics, but a net-ripper is so awesome and rare!

Ben Pridemore

The Maryland native played all four seasons for the Irish and had a goal in the national championship game as a freshman.  He graduates with a degree in Film, Television and Theater, and will be taking a position with Jones, Lange and LaSalle. This past summer he interned with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

Jack Sheridan

Graduated magna cum laude with a MBA and a degree in civil engineering.   It’s hard to think of a better example of someone who made great use of his education at Notre Dame.  To our understanding, he will be embarking on a career with GE.

Pat Healy

The Massachusetts product became a starter on defense his senior year as an excellent cover defenseman, forming the defensive core with Epple and sophomore Hugh Crance.  Pat graduates with a degree in Film, Television and Theater, and we look forward to reading about what the future brings for him.  Last summer he interned at Colliers International.

Bob Collins

New Jersey native, midfielder Bob Collins graduates with a degree in finance and a position with B of A/Merrill Lynch, where he also interned last year in sales and trading.  We enjoyed watching him play, especially on the defensive midfield, where he was a regular since his freshman year.

Chris Carter

This accounting major and defenseman from Torrey Pines, California, played a reserve role during his time at Notre Dame, but we are pleased to hear that before he heads out for a career with Microsoft, he will be volunteering for a six-month service project in Argentina with Habitat for Humanity.

Carlson Milikin

Carlson came to Notre Dame as a transfer from Virginia where he was their established SSDM.  Injuries kept him from the field at Notre Dame, but we understand he has received  his MSA, cum laude, and has a very positive career outlook.  A cryptic tweet earlier in the year suggested he may be willing to stick around a bit more to finish what he set out to do in the field, so we remain hopeful the NCAA will grant him an injury 6th year.

Thanks to all our readers for following us this season!

We enjoyed watching the national championship game, but we’d be remiss if we did not note that the Irish have 15- and 5-game win streaks against the two participants.  The boys are that close to reaching the top!

Extra bonus points to anyone who can explain to ND-Atl 2.0 in the comments why the lead photo to this article is relevant to a “Tribute” piece.  He has no idea (kids these days).
