Today we publish our 20th Notre Dame uniform concept. Like the previous concept we are taking some inspiration from the 2017 Under Armour Fall/Winter catalog.
This time it’s a shorts and base layer outfit for lacrosse that caught our eye. Several of our concepts have dealt with the blue/gold/green combination and this one shows off the growing popularity of the green/blue color scheme.
The Notre Dame lacrosse team debuted a similar look this past spring which has also been used in other sports on campus, most notably the women’s basketball team for several years.
For our concept we darkened the green a little bit which gives the football uniform a different and unique feel more similar to the Holtz era Sugar Bowl jerseys from the Sugar Bowl.
What’s your favorite shade of green for Notre Dame?
I prefer our Holtz era Sugar Bowl jerseys from the Orange Bowl.
Why’d we lose the “God, Country, Notre Dame” from the bottom? Other than that this is one of my favorite ones so far.
This is hands down the #1 seed going into the 2017 Tournament of Uniforms.
BTW, When does voting start for the 2017 Tournament of Uniforms?
Hmmm, we can stop for voting after 25 uniforms. Or, wait until the off-season when we have closer to 50 done.
Keep some for next year’s tournament. Maybe just 32?
Leave some for the Spring show. Who are you wearing Brandon? This is by Murtaugh.
You are on an absolute tear lately. These ones are slick, man, slick. They’d have to be a road jersey, though. Who would we break them out against? Maybe in our return to Meatchicken or maybe @ Stan?
Could wear white for a home game at a neutral site.
Isn’t it the home team’s decision as to whether or not the visiting team wears their primary or alternate jerseys?
Rule 1-4-5-b-2:
“The visiting team shall wear white jerseys; however, the home team
may wear white jerseys if the teams have agreed in writing before the
season.”
So yes, home team CAN but the visiting team must agree. If both teams show up with jerseys that do not contrast, the HOME team is required to change jerseys.
What’s the rule book say about two teams agreeing to both wear their home jerseys?
?w=1024&h=670
Same Rule…1-4-5-b-4:
“3. If the home team wears colored jerseys, the visiting team may also
wear colored jerseys, if and only if the following conditions have been
satisfied
a. The home team has agreed in writing prior to the game; and
b. The conference of the home team certifies that the jersey of the
visiting team is of a contrasting color.
Rule 1 / The Game, Field, Players and Equipment FR-23
4. If on the kickoff at the start of each half, the visiting team wears a
colored jersey in violation of the conditions specified in paragraph 3,
it is a foul for unsportsmanlike conduct.
PENALTY—Administer as a dead-ball foul. 15 yards at the succeeding
spot following the kickoff. If the kickoff is returned for a
touchdown, the penalty is assessed either on the try or on the
succeeding kickoff, at the option of the home team. [S27]”
Was literally just thinking the other day that I would be in favor of ND adopting a color vs. color matchup.
Since USC already does this vs. UCLA (and it looks fantastic!), I was thinking we should go color vs. color against Stanford. Gold-Navy-Gold vs. White-Cardinal-White would look sooooo good.
Screw clearwall’s “rules” let’s do it against Navy!
I’ve always been a fan of the icy white jerseys. This may be a contrarian opinion, but I enjoy seeing the team wear the road whites better than the home blues.
“I enjoy seeing the team wear the road whites better than the home blues.”
Being a Cowboys fan, whites are a home color.
…and mostly an away color as well.
Last year being a Cowboys fan was my reward for having to be a ND fan. This year it seems that they might swap places. Can’t remember the last time they were both good. 1993?
I have thought that exact same thing. It seems like whenever the Irish win, the Cowboys have to lose. I think this week is a cake walk win for Dallas so I hope that doesnt mean ND loses to SC.
I told you it was a contrarian opinion!
Confession…..me too in recent years IF we wear white cleats.
This is one of the better ones that have been posted
4/5 do like, would wear.
I might suggest one or two gold accents in the lower half though.
