LSU Football

I’m going to ruffle some feathers and create a little bit of controversy with today’s submission. LSU football has an interesting uniform history. As many know, the team elects to wear white at home the vast majority of the time which means the program is seldom wearing anything else throughout a season.

The Tigers do utilize alternates from time to time, and while they’ve had some high profile misses, generally speaking LSU does really well creating something different. Many might argue their white jerseys are very iconic, and also in combination with their helmet. I would agree.

I like their purple uniforms much better and I’m going rogue placing them this high up on the iconic sports uniform list.

These uniforms are criminally underrated.

LSU hasn’t changed their uniforms much over the last 65+ years since this template debuted in Baton Rouge. The biggest change was Nike shortening the shoulder stripes to the top of the arm pits 6 seasons ago. Once you see it, you can’t un-see that drastic cutoff. Except minor updates to the tiger logo, the standard yellow helmets for LSU haven’t changed at all since 1977.

The program has worn some other purple jerseys in the past, particularly an alternate version worn with a white helmet that is very sharp. However, their standard purple jerseys with the yellow helmets and pants is so awesome and should be their main uniform at home in Death Valley.
