Green Bay Packers

In terms of NFL helmets, I think Green Bay is a top 3 most recognizable in North America and beyond and I would submit the Packers have the most recognizable jersey in the entire league. With vibrant colors, a long lasting design, and enough winning ways (important to many!) I believe this gives Green Bay the most iconic uniforms of any football team.

The franchise goes way back to 1921 adopting dark blue and yellow colors for a while before switching to green and yellow in 1935. Then, in 1940 the Packers switched back to dark blue before reverting back to green in 1950. They were a bit all over the place.

This franchise could not decide what it wanted to do and brought back navy blue once more in 1954 (even using a Penn State-like blue and white uniform for a brief time). Finally, in 1959 the modern template for Green Bay came to be and the dark blue was ditched forever (except for throwbacks in 1994, 2010, 2011, and 2013-2019).

Not much has changed on the Packers standard home uniform in 64 years.

The beautiful green stripes socks were dropped for the 1981 season which is a bummer. The iconic “G” helmet logo was added to the yellow lids in 1961. The striping on the jersey collar showed up in 1984, the same year the “G” logo was added on top of the jersey sleeve striping and TV numbers were added to the top of the shoulders. The sleeve logo was dropped for the 1989 season.

That’s about it as far as changes. This is the most iconic NFL uniform.
