No alternate or one-off uniforms here. This is a series discussing the worst standard uniform changes in modern college football. The Lead Up It's late January in 2012 and Greg Schiano is leaving Rutgers after an impressive 11 seasons that saw him build the program from the basement into a frisky Big East team winning [...]
We'll start this off-season series with an area we might normally save for last. However, after a memorable season I'm in the mood to cover some Irish special teams now. We've finished up year 3 with Marty Biagi coaching these units and it's been a roller coaster of emotions with some of the top moments [...]
The transfer portal for college football opened up this past Friday, January 2nd and will close in approximately 10 more days. Taking a step back, that seems like more than enough time to continue adding pieces to the 2026 team--if only players weren't skipping visits and committing elsewhere thick and fast. So, Notre Dame football--coming [...]
It's 2026 and we still have to wrap up the 2025 college football season. Even though the transfer portal is open we still have 3 more games to finish the season. Four teams remain in the tournament, including the country's number one program, but before we get to the semifinals previews here's a quick look [...]
Okay, fine. I'll write something about the College Football Playoffs. But I'm not happy about it! But first, a look back at the first round of games and surprise surprise ratings and excitement were down this year. Alabama-Oklahoma, 8 p.m. (Friday): 14.9 million (ABC/ESPN) Miami–Texas A&M, noon: 14.8 million (ABC/ESPN) Tulane–Ole Miss, 3:30 p.m.: 6.2 [...]
Checking the drafts, this article title was created way back on May 13th of this year. That was when rumors started spreading that the Notre Dame-USC series future may be in doubt. After some concern during the summer things looked like they were on track for at least a short-term solution between the schools as [...]
People are worried Marcus Freeman may jump to the NFL. Not me. The New York Giants are coming up on 2 months without a permanent head coach after firing Brian Daboll following the team's 10th game this season. Daboll started out with a 9-7-1 debut season, winning in the wild card round of the playoffs [...]
Notre Dame's 2025 season was over in a flash and while we're not due a larger roster and recruiting update yet since our last article back in late October, it's time to turn the page and look to the 2026 season. Although there are no games to look forward to or bowl practices filling the [...]
My head has been spinning. On Sunday afternoon I was shocked, surprised, and then distraught. What the hell just happened? Wait, Notre Dame didn't even make the playoffs? Remember the Vegas odds!?? The expected trip to Norman?? The Irish should skip the bowl game now, it'll be a shell of a football team participating in [...]
Well, this article now has a different flavor since Notre Dame got left out of the 2025 College Football Playoffs. We were already supposed to know about the future of the College Football Playoff back on December 1st but disagreements about the format and proposals between the brokers involved led to a deadline extension. Now [...]
With the unfortunate news that came this morning in the CFP ranking show, our Notre Dame Fighting Irish’s season has come to a controversial end. While certainly we all have some hard feelings, and rightfully so, all is not lost. This is not an unknown feeling to the Irish community, with an almost identical situation [...]
It wasn't expected but always lurking in the background in the lead up to the final College Football Playoff Committee Rankings this Sunday afternoon. Notre Dame could have the rug pulled out from underneath them at the last moment. That's exactly what transpired as the Irish get left out of the 12-team playoff in favor [...]
Notre Dame will learn its fate for the playoffs in just a couple more days. But first, the cabal of television partners disguised as conference mates need to play their league championship games to provide more clarity to the 2025 season. The final CFP selection show will take place on Sunday, December 7th beginning at [...]
Great going, Good List! If you’ll recall from last week, we identified five games where the Irish could jump the potential loser. None of those games came to fruition. Fortunately, Ohio State finally exorcised its Michigan demons, ending the possibility of the Wolverines jumping into the CFP discussion. Worse still, the CFP committee bumped Alabama [...]
Just a few more games remain until Notre Dame finds out if their 10-2 record with 10 straight wins is enough to make the playoffs. The way things have shaken out lately it's going to make Irish fans sweat until the very end. That is, unless we receive some blessings during conference championship weekend. Here's [...]
