It's been a while since we've updated the 2018 Notre Dame football big board, largely because not a whole lot was happening. A few guys here and there committed to this school or visited that one, but that was it. Now that the season has started and everyone's boards are a bit tighter and official [...]
As you might expect, we have a very impressive list of recruiting visitors for Georgia. Normally I would say it's impossible to imagine a recruiting weekend that's a bigger deal than a USC game, but in this case I think there's a discussion. Georgia will play Notre Dame for just the second time ever, and [...]
Elite wide receiver Kevin Austin became the 16th Notre Dame commit of the 2018 cycle when he announced for the Irish today. Austin has steadily climbed in the national rankings since the Irish offered almost a year ago; the 6'3", 198-pound athlete stands out due to plus ability in multiple categories and the ease with [...]
Jacob Lacey became the second commit in Notre Dame's 2019 class when he pledged to the Irish today. Michigan expected Lacey at their summer barbecue event this weekend, but he cancelled that trip and instead became Michigan's second top 150 recruiting loss of the week to Notre Dame. #RememberTheSix First I give GOD all [...]
The 2017 football opener against Temple inches ever closer, which of course means it's a perfect time for projecting 2018 recruiting needs for the remainder of this cycle. Right? That's how I read it, anyway... With the recent pledges of George Takacs, Jahmir Smith, Shayne Simon, and Jack Lamb, the 2018 class stands at 15 [...]
Linebacker Jack Lamb became the 15th Notre Dame commit of the 2018 cycle when he announced for the Irish today. Conventional wisdom held UCLA would win out for the 6'4", 215-pound Californian due to concerns about distance; despite even further distance, many feared Penn State's pull on the double Nittany Lion legacy. However, Notre Dame [...]
Shayne Simon became the 14th Notre Dame commit of the 2018 cycle when he announced for the Irish today. The 6'3", 215-pound athlete's star has ascended steadily over the last few months, as he has put in some very impressive camp performances and moved into the top 150 in the 247 Composite. Earlier in his recruitment, [...]
Jahmir Smith became the 13th Notre Dame commit of the 2018 cycle when he announced for the Irish today. The 5'11", 198-pound North Carolina speedster is a high-academic kid (as a junior, he reports a GPA of 4.43/4.0 and an ACT of 25) who reacted very favorably to his Notre Dame offer, but we never heard [...]
Cade McNamara became the first Notre Dame commit of the 2019 cycle when he announced for the Irish today. The 6'1", 186-pound Nevadan camped at Notre Dame last month; he clearly made a big impression on the staff, as his performance earned an offer. Brian Polian ran point on McNamara's recruitment, presumably in part because [...]
George Takacs became the 12th Notre Dame commit of the 2018 cycle when he announced for the Irish today. The 6'7", 236-pound Florida standout opened a lot of eyes at the Nike Opening Regional in Miami recently; he impressed both attached and in the passing game, and in the process earned an invite to the finals in Oregon [...]
Good morning, Irish fans! Despite the lack of consistent recruiting coverage by us over here at 18 Stripes this summer (and I do apologize for that), the Fighting Irish staff has continued to put in work all summer to land some of the best football recruits in the country. As some of you are aware, [...]
Ja'mion Franklin became the 12th Notre Dame commit of the 2018 cycle when he announced for the Irish at his school today; the 6'3", 306-pound Maryland bull originally planned to announce in July, but after he earned an invite to the Opening Finals he decided to move his announcement up. Despite a lack of love for [...]
Only a matter of days ago our 18 Stripes Twitter feed joked that the 2018 senior class was almost under 20 bodies which has always been the case in recent years and frankly happens at most schools. That was after a transfer on May 31st and just 5 days later another transfer brings the 2018 [...]
Our last scholarship update occurred shortly after National Signing Day and while a recent decommit has awoken the Irish from a late spring period of quiet there was a lot of action in February to recap here today. As usual, the numbers are tight but the roster has seen some recent attrition opening up a [...]
In this most recent NFL draft, we saw the Cleveland Browns use a second round pick on 2014 signee Deshone Kizer, who was roughly a top 250 recruit. Compared to other Notre Dame draft picks over the last decade, Kizer did pretty well for himself - top 250 players don't have a great hit rate in the draft. [...]
