Indianapolis Colts

I suppose you could say this is Baltimore making this list today. Worry not, the far too busy Ravens’ uniforms will not be making this top 50 countdown.

The Colts took a little bit to settle on their current uniforms, originally throwing some red into the mix before the now-famous shoulder stripes and blue/white color scheme debuted for the 1957 regular season. This has been the primary uniform for the Colts ever since.

But, there have been some small changes through the years. From 1982-86 they randomly decided to wear gray pants at home with the blue jerseys, then opened the 1987 pre-season with the same look before switching back to white pants in the regular season.

There was also the switch to blue facemasks (you can’t not picture young Peyton Manning in this helmet) for the 1995-2003 seasons which will forever be associated with those teams playing in the old RCA Dome. In current seasons, there was a blue helmeted throwback uniform and of course the Colts have joined the Color Rush craze in the NFL, too.

The loosened rules in the NFL haven’t helped the Colts in many ways–look at quarterback Anthony Richardson with his long blue tights, small white sticking out, then blue cleats. That doesn’t help what is one of the more traditional uniforms in North American football.

The Colts don’t have a thrilling uniform but it’s respectable and good at what it’s trying to achieve with a simple and clean professional look.
